Remixing Johannesburg

In early 2010, I was honoured to be part of the Smirnoff Experience in South Africa. Having just started remixing the real world with my camera and microphone, I saw this as the perfect opportunity to make my first mix overseas. So, with the help of my good friend and manager Bryant Randall, we literally dashed through the streets of Johannesburg recording sounds and voices to put together my first project, Joburg Jam.

The experience was a blast and very educational. It quickly became apparent that this project won’t work if I concentrate on the metropolitan life we already know – cocktails, night clubs, taxi cabs, etc. In future, I want to delve deeper into the depths of a fascinating culture, and slow the pace right down to concentrate on textures and atmospheres. Think Baraka, but with a focus on using sounds to make music. With your help, folks, we’ll be off to our next destination to make this happen. This is only the beginning!

  1. Wow! A wonderful idea and great remix! Let the flame of inspiration burning! When I’m home again I gonna buy each track! I would also like to ask if you only have this tracks to buy on this sites? Love & Respect

I absolutely love this song, it makes me so happy! :-)

It would be nice though if the spoken ad at the end would be removed from the purchased video… since i already came to this site to buy the video i don’t need to be constantly reminded of it.
